Here's what nobody told you on any of those attempts: you were probably fighting the wrong thing.
Most people believe smoking is a physical addiction, so they brace for withdrawal, white-knuckle through the cravings, and treat every failed attempt as proof they're weak. But consider this. Pregnant women stop smoking the day they find out, instantly, at will, with no dangerous withdrawal. With a genuine physical dependency, that simply isn't possible.
Smoking is a habit. A pattern running on autopilot, built over years, sitting well below the part of you that's decided to stop. That's exactly why deciding, again and again, has never been enough on its own.
The three beliefs that keep people smoking
- I can't do it. I've tried before and it's too hard.
- I'm physically addicted, so it's going to be too difficult.
- It does something for me. It relaxes me.
That last one matters most. Smoking is very often an unconscious protection mechanism, a comfort blanket of sorts, meeting a real need in an unhelpful way. In session we find a new, healthier way to meet that same need, which is why clients walk out as non-smokers rather than white-knuckling through cravings for months afterwards.
Who's guiding you through it
I'm Andrew Arbuthnot. I've worked with hundreds of clients over many years in practice, and helping people become non-smokers is some of the most straightforward work I do. I'm not going to lecture you about your health. You know the risks better than anyone, and being told again has never once helped. I'm here to work with the part of your mind that's been running the habit, so it stops running.
“I tried and tried to stop smoking and just couldn't seem to do it alone. I never made it past the first day. After a 30-minute chat with Andy I had the confidence to quit straight after the call, and I have never looked back. I know I won't smoke again and don't even have cravings to do so.”

How it works
- 1A free consultation. A short conversation about what you smoke, what you have already tried, and whether this approach suits you.
- 2One focused session. We work directly with the pattern running the habit, and find a healthier way to meet the need it has been covering.
- 3Live a normal week. You go through your usual triggers, the pub, the break, the drive, and notice the pull is not there.
What it costs
Most clients stop after a single session, so this is a one-off rather than one of the standard programmes. Your consultation beforehand is free, with no obligation to book.
What it is costing already
If you smoke 20 a day in the UK, that's the best part of £540 a month. Over a year, that's more than £6,000, lit and dropped on the pavement.
One recent client was spending nearly £700 a month and arrived deeply sceptical about the whole idea. He hasn't smoked since.
According to NHS data, 47% of cancer admissions can be attributed to smoking. You already knew that. Knowing has never been the part that stops anyone, which is exactly the point.
What changes
Not resisting harder. Not counting days, or crossing them off, or starting again on Monday. The packet you don't buy on the way home because buying it didn't occur to you. The break at work you spend somewhere else. The morning that starts without one.
Most clients stop after a single session, and not through willpower. The habit simply isn't running anymore, almost as if it had never been there.
